Kay:
" Before the show in the dressing room, Jerry enjoyed meeting all his old friends and a few new ones. It never ceases to amaze fans when Jerry remembers them and even where he met them before!  That's my brother Harry behind Jerry and me. This is the first time in all the  years I've known JLL that he finally got to see a show and meet Jerry. Both of them were impressed with the other and my brother had a  WONDERFUL time."

Picture: Christian Leibbrandt

Christian:
"This picture is showing me and Jerry in 2001 after his
birthday concert. In the afternoon I gave him a pipe
as a present and he really liked it. When he entered
the stage he smoked this pipe. After the show I met him
outside the hotel and he found out he left the pipe on
the piano. One of his bodyguards said to me that I
was not allowed to talk with Jerry. But Jerry went very mad
and said to the bodyguard: "Go back to the stage and
bring me my pipe!" and the guy started to run. Jerry
was very friendly and was willing to take a
picture with me and the pipe in his hand."

Wim de Boer, Piet Versteijnen and Jerry in Brussels (July  15, 2000)
Picture: Piet Versteijnen

Piet:
"One man who has to be on this site is, of course, Wim de Boer. For more than 42 years he is the man behind the International Jerry Lee Lewis  Fanclub and I guess he holds the world-record in this, he should be in  the "Guiness Book of Records" but we all should be glad he's running our  fanclub. In between you see me in the job as FBM photographer and reporter. Wim and his wife Ans, Els and myself travelled all over Europe to see the best of all: JERRY LEE LEWIS."

Gary Birshtein and Jerry (March 13, 1999)

Gary:
"I went to Memphis in March of 1999 to finally fulfill my dream to see Jerry Lee Lewis perform live. He was playing at New Daisy Theater on Beale Street. The concert was amazing. I had to pinch myself realizing  that I was sitting right in the front of the stage watching The Killer  play the piano. The organizers of the concert found out that I was the only Canadian ( born in Russia) at the show and granted me a backstage  pass to meet Jerry Lee Lewis at his tour bus right after the  performance. When in the bus I was waiting for my turn to meet Jerry as he had some of his old friends and fans that came to visit him after the show. I didn’t have to wait long. I was asked to come in to the area at the end of the bus that was sectioned off with curtains. Jerry was sitting on a big leather arm chair with a body guard beside him. He was  very nice, little tired and had one rose in his hand. He thanked me for coming to the concert. I told him that he is the greatest, and that he has been such an inspiration to me and many others. I asked if it was ok  to take a picture together. Everyone looked at Jerry and he said o.k  without any hesitation. I only had seconds to think of where I can sit  as this was an opportunity of a life time. The arm rest of the chair was too big and the room was too small so the person with the camera  couldn’t really stand too far back to get both of us in the shot. I  still don’t know how I did it but I jumped right in between Jerry’s legs  and sat at the edge of the chair. I remember after the picture was taken  Jerry jokingly said - “hoochy coochy mama” and everyone laughed. I think he was a little surprised that someone would do something like that but made a joke out of it and it was all good. Wow, what a memory! Thank you  Jerry!!!

Maarten van der Tol and Jerry in Amsterdam (June 28, 1995)

 Maarten:
"This was the  first time I met Jerry. It was a hot summer day in 1995 and the night before  Jerry had given a great show at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. I was dead nervous  when I went to his hotel next morning, trying to meet the man in person. I was happily surprised that Jerry took all the time for chats and  pictures. He was very kind to the fans, like each time I met him since  then."

Picture: Piet Versteijnen

Piet:
"If we have the chance, we go to the Schiphol airport to give them a warm welcome and talk a little bit about our families. The grey cap  Jerry is wearing on his arrival he gave to Els when he was was leaving again  back home. He knew we had a birthday party for his son Lee at our home  with some children of his age (8 year) and he wanted to thank us for  making that 28 jan. 1994 a special day for his son. (He played at the  Paradiso that day)."

Jerry and Scandinavian fans (August 25, 1993)
Picture: Folke Myrvang

Folke:
"Like me, Henrik Almgren had several unsuccessful attempts of getting a  good pic with Jerry until I was able to snap this one at the doors of  the hotel in Sarpsborg after the 1993 show. The picture is like a who's  who of Scandinavian JLL fans: Jan Jensen, Hans Jabell, Petter Bakke and  his brother (Petter is to the right, but its hard to tell them apart),  Åge Helmersen and I think its Per Åke Blohm smiling above Jerry's left shoulder. Jerry looked up at tall Henrik and said "Man, you're tall, ya one a them Vikings are ya??" Henrik grinned wide all night  long and was also lucky enough to stay in the bar for the jam session no  one thought would happen. I didn't, which is the story of my life, Åge and I had to work the next day and we left soon after this pic was  taken."

Jahn Bakke, Petter Bakke and Jerry at Oslo INt. Airport (April 1989)

Folke Myrvang and Jerry at Memphis Airport (1988)
Picture: Folke Myrvang

Folke:
"This is me in 1988 when I finally got to have a good  picture taken with Jerry. We had seen Jerry play 6 wild shows at a Casino in Atlantic City and out of 115 songs, there were 80 different  titles. Quite interesting. Bonnie (of Robert Blake fame) was at our table at one show and we met wonderful people like Kay, Gary Skala, Nick  and Mara and many others. The pic was taken at the Memphis airport and Jerry knew exactly who we were although we had not been introduced to him at all during the weekend. He was chatty and funny and I was  impressed by his friendliness. The pic is taken by Stephen  Ackles."

Gunder Svendsen and Jerry at Fornebu Airport (April 7, 1985)
Picture: Folke Myrvang

Folke:
"On the 1985 tour I had my first chances to meet and say hello to Jerry  in person. He was taken from show to show and to the hotels by a couple  of rough security guards that didn't give him much time to roam around  the hotel lobbies, but we did our best to meet him and have pictures  taken with him. Mine were unsuccessful, but I was able to snap these  shots of my friends Gunder Svendsen and (the next picture) Åge Helmersen."

Per:
"My biggest treat came in 1985 when I saw Jerry in
Stockholm. I was 18 at the time. He put on a fantastic show! Then after the show I was lucky to be in the hotel´s piano bar where Jerry later played for us fans for almost 3 hours (exactly about 2 hours and 50 minutes). This was my best rocking night ever!!!!!"

Peter Checksfield and Jerry at Gatwick Airport (April 22,  1983)
Picture: Peter Checksfield

Peter:
"A photo of when I first met Jerry Lee Lewis back in 1983. This was at the end of a European Tour when he was leaving to go home, at Gatwick Airport (London) on April 22nd 1983. Sitting next to  him (but not in the photo) was his soon-to-be wife, the late Shawn  Stephens. I was 20 years old at the time."

Jerry with Els Versteijnen and Henk van Raaij in Amsterdam, Jaap Edenhal (November 11, 1978)
Picture: Piet Versteijnen

Piet:
"Jerry's second show in Holland was in Amsterdam at the "Jaap Edenhal" and we, Wim de Boer, Henk van Raaij en Els and I, brought Jerry some  flowers and a bottle of Jack Daniels Old nr. 7. You may guess what he liked the most. In 1977 Els started to wear a red cap so Jerry could see  her in the audience and we can see Els on many pictures standing in front of the stage. Until this day J.W. still asks why she's not wearing it anymore."

"The very first time we met the Killer himself in Essen 13-03-1977. Els  is getting her autograph and I was trying to take a picture, but my flashlight didn't work and when Jerry noticed that he said: "Take your time Killer, I'll wait here till you've got your picture."

Steve and Mimi Vandenberg and Jerry at the Plantation  Supper Club, Greensboro, North Carolina (1968)
Picture: Steve Vandenberg

Steve:
"In those years Jerry would perform at The Plantation Club with seven to ten day engagements several times a year. Needless to say we were in rock and roll heaven. At that time in his career Jerry would take  requests from the audience and if he liked what you were asking for he'd  play until three or four in the morning. Incredible evenings!!"
